I forget.. which one raises alkalinity?
washing soda or baking soda?

Both, but baking soda is food grade. To make it raise the ph like washing soda you just bake it.

Both will work but washing soda raises PH big time, baking soda slightly lowers PH. I use a combination of both. I mix them: (1 part washing soda to 3 or 4 parts baking soda). That combination will only slightly raise ph on my tank when added. I use Arm & Hammer for both products.
