Water Change During Cycle?

My ammonia spiked and dropped back to zero, and my nitrites are spiked currently with nitrates rising. My LFS advised to do a 25-30% water change.

I thought you shouldn't change the water while it's cycling? I was going to wait for nitrites to go to zero and then do a water change to lower the nitrates.

Thoughts?

I would wait it out, the longer the cycle the more stable your setup will be.

I'd wait till the nitrites reach zero. But if you don't have any livestock in there yet I wouldn't bother.
