Water change/Evaporation

I have a 29 galllon. The water evaporates at least 10% every week and a half. my question is do I still need to do water changes or just replace the water that has evaporated. also, I was told that when replacing the water, that I dont have to mix salt with it. because the water that evaporates has no salt in it, there is no need to add salt mixed water, just freshwater. is that true?

Replacing evaporated water with pure fresh water is necessary, but does not alter the need for water changes where you swap clean salt water for tank salt water. Water changes import and export things that adding fresh water does not.

Salt stays in, water needs to be rodi fresh water for top offs.

Yes you still need waterchanges, they remove excess nutrients and replace used up trace elements.

also another little question. If I were to get a new light that put out 130 watts, would that be sufficient to keep certain corals and anenomies. Or maybe, what is the recommended wattage to keep these creatures? if i got the 130 watt, i could possible also use the light that I currently have on it(Reef Sun 50/50) and possible be efficient. Thanks

I have a BioCube 14....I do top offs every day......however I also do a 20% water change every week. Thats how it stays looking like this

JackJake.....sorry for the hijack

its all good newfish. just gonna attract more people to answer my questions. nothin but love. your tank is nice though, prestine conditions

I do not think that you can compare what an ro/di does to a brita filter. I mean I guess its better then straight tap water. But if money allows I would recommend getting even the cheapest ro/di the budget allows.

is the do/ri connected to the tank water at all. i don't know how it works. or do you hookit up to a sink? i have no idea
