Water Change Question!

I have a 46g tank, and they say to change about 20% of the water ones a month. That is about 10g a month. my question is, would it be ok or better to change about 2-1/2g a week? that would be 10g a month. I thank this would be better for the fish for less stress and more stable water instead of a big change all at once. what do you thank?:smokin:

go with 5 gallons /week or 2

it is supposed to be 10% every week. i do 10% every two weeks.

With smaller tanks 10% a week, you can do 2% a day which equates to roughly that... 5 day week.. of course, would not want you to work wknds, lol

With my tank (real small) i do a 10% change every week. I would do maybe 10% every 2 weeks. But hey thats my opnion

I have a 46 also and I change 8 gallons weekly.

4 would work as well.

I'd say the effect of the weekly vs monthly isn't too big of a difference and agree with others that more like a 5 gal bucket per week is a better plan.

Thanks for the feedback. 4-5 gallons would would be better thay just 2 gallons per week.
