Water change water is cloudy

I just made up a fresh batch of salt for a water change and when I checked the bucket, the water was cloudy. I mean, I couldn't see to the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket cloudy. I had a power head and a heater in it to prep it and that was all. The water was all clear when I started this batch up and, I have 2 other buckets going and they are fine. Any ideas as to what would have caused this? Thanks for any and all replies.

I guess something in the powerhead could be it. Like I said though, I made two other buckets at the same time and they are fine. I guess now I have to figure out what it was that was in the powerhead.

I've had that happen when I put the salt in the bucket first, then the water dripping from the ro. I don't know what the difference is but it didn't look right either.

the difference for you chelos big sis is that by putting the salt in first you start with water that is WAY TOO SALTY. this will drastically affect the ph of the water you make and could cause problems. that is what i was taught and i put in all 5 gallons of water then add salt to the correct salinity and add powerhead and heat. as for flynhi it sounds like maybe you added salt first or had a dirty bucket to me. not real sure for you but i felt the other issue needed addressed. sorry
