Water change

My 180G reef tank is evaporate about 5G a day and then the Kalk reactor will refill the evaporate water. Is that consider as water change at 5G/day ?

I have been told and seen many posts that it is not the same as doing a water change. You should keep doing water changes in addition to your top offs.

I add 3/4 gallon a day, it is not kalk but just RO/DI and I still do 8 gallon water changes every week.

Unfortunately that doesn't count or I'd get a 3-4 gallon a day credit. It doesn't dilute anything or replace anything like a water change does.

I agree, it does little that a water change would do, since the evaporation did not remove anything except water, and the addition did not add anything significant except calcium and alkalinity.
