Water Chillers

I was looking at the amazing equipment that is known as a water chiller and the amazingly high price it has and wondering if there is a way to perhaps rig a chiller for cheaper, perhaps out of a Wort chiller from a microbrewery. I found a site that tells how to make one and I believe it would work as long as you used a different type of material than copper.
