I was just curious if my water is good enough for a clam or if i should wait.

PH ~ 8.3
Ammonia ~ 0
Nitrate ~ 15 ppm
Alk ~ 10.2 - 10.3
Nitrite ~ 0 ppm - .10 ppm
Calcium ~ 470

I converted this from a Fish Only Tank to a Reef tank about 4 months ago.

60 Gallon
3.1 Gallon HOB Refguim with chateomorpha
Via Aqua protein skimmer
175w 14k Metal Halide SE
(1) 96w 7100K blue
(1) 96w Atintic 03.

Please help me decide if this is a good idea or not. I want a Blue Tricidia Maxima

stability in temp/salinity/Ca/Alk are what your looking for when keeping clams. you want it to be stable for at least 6 months and you haven't reached that mark being 'reef' so I'd say you need to wait till the water is Stable for that long.

Ditto, above. also, the more you critters you add, the more you need to watch your water! Time ,experience, and equipment are most critical for clams. also, your lighting seems weak , try a derasa or squami for first clam, ( I belive most people are going to try a clam what ever we say) they are hardy and will give you a better first experiance. Good luck, its a great hobby! and you are looking in one of the best places for guidance.
