Water Drum

I am needing to get my RO/DI setup and looking for a couple of 30-55 gallon water drums. Who in OKC is carrying these? I have water in a rubbermaid trashcan but condensation caught in the lid runs down the outside, so I am going to move to actual sealed drums.

Thanks

Chappell Sply is the place. Their tanks come with a bulk head and a vented lid. They were the only place I could find a tall, narrow tank to take up less space. And, they didn't charge me shipping if I could wait on their next stock order. They also installed my float switch/cut off valve.

Plus, they were nice folks to deal with.

Don't know about OK, but here in TX we usually buy used drums from soft drink plants for dirt cheap.

Oooh. Thanks for the tip, GraviT. Can you give us some more specific details on that? Like where specifically are you talking? (I am in Dallas pretty often)

Not in OK her either but GraviT gave some good advice. The soft drink bottlers get all the syrups in 55 gal food grade drums. The Coca-Cola plant I work at her in NC gives them away and I have brought home many as well as stored away about 6 of them for future use :). Just look for a place that actually is a bottling plant and not distribution warehouse. We give them away all the time to people who call and ask to save them a few.

anybody have any contacts with Great Plains down on May? If this is correct I am sure we could find lots of them

I have a large plastic drum. Not bulkheaded or anything like that, just a lid like the "reefshop" water jugs have. Couldn't say how large, but I'd guess around 50gallons or so. You're more than welcome to it Prater if you want. Just needs a good cleaning and rinsing first.

I bought a 75 gallon vertical water storage tank from chappell supply for about $130. I am pleased with it. it makes mixing salt water and doing water changes much easier. It came with a vented lid and a bulk head. I don't think they keep any of their vertical storage tanks in stock, so you have to order and pay shipping or order and wait 2-3 weeks for them to get it in with their regular shipments and then pick it up in the store. I chose the latter option to avoid paying $50 in shipping.
