water Evaporating from sump

Just keep adding water, that is the best way that I have found to keep my sump full. Kidding. Evaporation is a natural thing and a good thing. I usually add about 5 gallons of ro/di top off every other day to my system.

Covering it would of course slow it down but that would inhibit gas exchange in your sump.

Increasing the ambient humidity in your house with a whole house humidifier will also have a slight slow down effect.

if you get a chiller it will help alot. i have about 160g total and i do less than 5g a week top off.

that's what it is supposed to do.

It's keeping your tank cool. If you are tired of pouring water in, look into an auto-top off. If you have space for a resevoir, they certainly make life easier.

I have seen plastic float valves at ACE and Atwoods for less than $20.
