Would one korelia 1400 gph and a 1050 gph be to much flow for your standard 55 g reef.

That will be a fine start for most mushrooms leathers zoanthids and a lot of lps. You might want to add another in the future depends on where your tank ends up. I'm running 3 koralias on my 60 sps tank and am adding more, it really depends on your coral selection.
