Water for QT....? tap / RODI

This is killing me... My RODI system is 2 flights of stairs down in my basement. My QT tanks are in my office where I can very closely monitor new arrivals. Do you need to use RODI water for a QT tank? OR can conditioned tap water be used. My well water comes out at 140 TDS at my house. Anything under 500 is considered drinkable (?).

Since I only have fish in QT not corals would this effect the fish? Next I will be QT tangs / pygmy angelfish.

I use conditioned tap water or the waste water from water changes for my QT.

I am thinking of using RO/DI in my tanks.. but for QT and Tank Transfer method I am thinking conditioned tap water. I set the QT up and tear down so often not sure the algae will be an issue?

Is the tap water an issue with the fish or just the corals?
