Water is shocking me?

I would think it would take more than 1.2 VAC for you to feel the voltage. I have more than that and feel nothing. I have read that aquariums have some measurable leaking current even if the equipment is in good shape due to induction from anything that has a motor, ie pumps. It you want to remove all current from the water you could install a grounding probe, but there are pros and cons to that. My ato from autotopoff.com is putting a slight current into the water probably from a defective float valve that should be replaced.

Had that happen to me with a Koreli power head. Found out when I stuck my hand in the tank while steping barefooted in some water I had spilled. Not too fun that's for sure.

Like others above, I have had two stealth heaters start leaking voltage into my tank in the past and now stay away from them as a rule.
