Water level differences in sump

Hi,

I'm in the process of designing my 1st reefaquarium with a sump.

I would like to have a refugium with higher water level than the skimmer compartement so there will be level differences in the sump and water falling /running down the baffle for about 5 inches.

Is there a proven way to completely eliminate possible noise coming from a waterfall effect? Angled baffle? Filter mat? Does anyone have first hand experience?

Pictures or videos would be great!

Hmmm...mine doesn't make any noise at that point in the fuge. How much noise are you thinking. Mine is a good 5inch drop with a straight baffle with grooves. Now that I checked I guess there is some noise to here when the doors are open. Not audible when closed.

Why not just put something under the skimmer and raise the water level in the whole sump?

Sorry, I didnt write that. There will not be enought height to put much under the skimmer since the stand will not be that high...
