Water Level Prob for ACII

I have an ACII with Aqua Notes, I would like to connect a water level probe to it, I don't think Neptune sell that particular extension. can some one tell me how can I do this? I am not particular handy with electronic DIYs so a link to a vendor that sell something like this would be greatly appreciated also.

Your ACII supports 1 digital input. You would need a float sensor that basically closes that "switch". I am assuming that there is a 1/8" plug or some such input on the ACII ? You would need a sensor that could plug into that. I have read about others that use them for other controllers, but have not found them myself. I use a separate, "all in one" float/power switch unit for my sump top off.

Does any one make a float sensor that can be plug into the digital port then? I do have a "all in one" unit that I used for top off, but now I would like to add one more as a fail safe. I remember some one mentioned something like it a while back but can't seem to find the thread.

I believe I saw something in the Aquatronic thread in the Lighting, Filtration & Other Equipment forum. That thread should show up on the first page for that forum, it is getting quite long and gets responded to often. The standard AQ level sensors are what you are looking for, although I dont know about their connection, but that can be easily modified :)

It's much easier to add float switches with the Aquacontrollers versus Aquatronica. You also have much better programming flexibility. See the thread below. It has pics of a float switch I built along with an interface box for the digital inputs. You can buy all kinds of float switches from Omega.com. I boight one of the cheaper ones and just glued it it to a hot piece of pvc.

Oh, and I never said that it was easier with the Aquatronica, only that I had seen a post about level sensors for sale/bought in that thread.

hey you're welcome. hope it helps. There's probably other float switches from different places than omega.com. But I have had good luck with them. I used model number LVK-130 and have had good luck with it. They also make another version with a spash guard for turbulent water situations - or to keep a snail from climbing on it. This particular model can be configured to monitor both a high water or a low water situation. I use the high water in the tank to tell me to turn off the dosing pump and the low water to tell me the kalkwasser reservoir is low.

I just read that Melev recommends floatswitches.net. I personally have not used them, but they are his vendor of choice for float switches, relays, control diagrams, etc

Thanks for the replies, but can some one gives some additional information regarding how exactly can one of these float switches be connected to the aqua controller it self? I don't really know anything about how to deal with electronic DIYs and it looks like most of these switches will have to be wired into some sort of plug before it can be connected. Also, how would the Aqua Controller recognize the float switch?

Frostbite, see the thread I copied above. You're right, you need to wire the floatswitch into a plug that plugs into the aquacontroller. The wiring diagram is inthe thread above. The floatswitch is just a simple reed contact switch. When it closes, the aquacontroller senses the closure and you can implement anything you want it to do based on your programming.
