Dear Fellow Reefers,
Since I've setup the 120G Cube, I've been using an Ocean's Motions wave maker on a closed loop. It works well, but once a year or so I need to take it out to tear it down and clean it. This usually happens shortly after a bunch of sand gets sucked into the closed loop and it clogs the Ocean's Motions. It doesn't clog the water flow, but it keeps the diverter from rotating in the housing. The sand kinda acts like cement and causes it to stick more than the motor can over power. I end up having to turn it off until I have the time to remove it and clean it... which with where it's installed takes about a day of work.
I've been thinking about removing the Ocean's Motions and adding some other type of wave maker. Either a Max Gyre or multiple pumps on a wave maker.
I would probably keep the closed loop pump for normal circulation as well.
What are your recommendations for a tank this size? I plan on putting the pumps on the back wall as the tank is viewable from the other 3 sides.
