water movement for SPS?

Hello all,
Right now i have 2 -Tunze pumps, a 6205 and a 6305, alternating about a 10- 12 second blast on alternating sides of my tank on alternating power settings, along with a couple of sure flow maxi-jet kits. I also have a dart pump and OM 4 -way running through a closed loop system but i'm kinda interested in setting up the Tunze for some wave action. Would this type of flow be more beneficial to my SPS' health? Should all my controllable Tunze be placed on one side of the tank?

I don't think it would be MORE beneficial it's Kia depends on your preference. Fro
What you have said so far it seems that you have plenty of flow so it jest depends on if you want some wave action or alternating currents coming from either side. I personally don't like the wave as it's stressful on a rimless tank and creates a lot
Of overflow noise!

I dont know about overflow noise... It might just single it out from one to the other but I dont think it makes it any louder. Yes on a rimless tank it may put unneeded stress on the walls. I run my vortechs on a wave and my corals love it.... So do my fish. Its a long wave though and not a fast up down up down but more of a slow rise and fall from one enf of the tank. You also can really see it moving under the rocks and everywhere else too picking up the unwateds into the water colum. I like mine..

It sounds like you have enough flow and I would say no to the pumps being all on one end...

hmmm...i was just curious about the whole wave thing. I have a 8 foot tank so i'm thinking it would be a long slow wave.

Split them... one on one end and the other on the other... just let the OM run... you should be fine.

Are you on long pulse? I only have one and would love to make longer waves than I can... Is it something you have to have two for or what?

I just dialed it in... Possibly tank length?... I just used the automated thing and sat there staring at it for ever before I got a nice rise and fall from one end to the other...

IMO wave action is not needed. What is important is random high flow. You can get this with a few power heads placed in different locations. I have 3 powers heads running all the time, I can see polyps getting moved in every direction from the flow. I think you flow was fine as it was.

I agree with this! +1. But waves are sweet!!!!

So the short pulse wave tuner???
