I have a 5g nano tank, and would like to set it up, but am curious as to how you would keep the water parameters in check. It does not have a skimmer, and the only filtration is a sponge like thing in the back.
if there is rock in the tank, the water volume will be less, you will need to test the water frequently to keep the nitrates in check. How much you change will depend on the water parameters. Most likely you will be changing 30-50% at a time.
I do 2 gallons in my 20H every week. I'm running a DIY HOB fuge w/ chemi pure in it and my parameters are flawless! I wouldn't even run a sponge, use your LR as the main source of filtration. . . .
A fish will make your nitrates skyrocket in a tank that size, at least IMO. Maybe if you had like a crab or shrimp or something instead it'd work better
