i just tested my water today and found ammonia ~0.1 and phosphate ~0.1 is this ok for a maxima? i just got a small teardrop that a friend has been holding on to because the levels were much higher but it seems as if i have corrected the situation.

The phosphate shouldn't hurt the clam in general, in fact clams can actually use phosphate as a food source. The ammonia however is poisonous at high enough levels. I'm not sure if your level is high enough to cause concern, but it does lead me to believe that you have an unstable tank. As a general rule, you want a very stable tank of at least 3-6 months before adding a clam.
