Hello everyone:

So this week I'm ordering the light fixture and water pump for my reef system and here's what I want to do. I have a 55g 48'long thats going to be a display tank,a 30g 36'Long thats going to be a refugium and a 20g tall aquarium that im planing to make a frag tank later on. What I want is that the water from the 55g and the 20g tall goes to the 30g refugium and then back to the main tanks. What kind of water pump should I get from these that I'm showing here, how much gph am I looking for?:

Thanks a lot for the help

Sump turnover should be ~3-5x water volume. The pumps will depend on how quiet you need them, if you need/want internal/external, how much you want to spend, etc....

Well, I'm just looking for a pump that works just fine, not to noisy, not to expensive, let say $50-100, it will be better if it is an internal pump and I need one that gives a lot of flow because I want to keep the equipments at a minimum.

The Mag Drive pumps are tough and reliable and in your price range. I use a 9.5 with a ball valve on the return so I can dial it back if the overflow can't handle it straight from the pump. This is on a 60 gallon tank, so I would recommend you get the same size for your 55.

Can I have multiple aquarium systems working with that water pump? For example; The water from the 20g and the 55g is all going to the same refugium for biological filtration and the pump then sends the water back to both tanks. Is that possible with the Mag DRive 9.5 or do I need something with a higher gph? Thanks a lot for the help everyone!
