does anyone know if the water from the dehumidifier would work to fill the ato system, my dehumidifier removes approx 2 gal a day and my system uses 3, so i know i would have to watch the level but was wondering if it would be ok to use as they say the puriest waters come from dehumidifiers and a/c units

I would not use it. You have no idea what could be in the water. Most have at least copper tubing, which would cause problems in a reef.

Yeah I wouldn't do it either. Dehumidifier water is consider grey water. When water condenses it takes pieces of the the air with it. So any bacteria, mold spore dust in the air will condense in the water. On top of that the water slowly corroding the coils releases copper or other metals.

While most in the reef hobby consider copper to be poison, it is a required trace mineral that is absorbed by reef organisms. Ward Labs does my water test with detection limits down to
0.01 ppm. Trinity Aquifier water goes straight into system tanks with TDS at 949 ppm: Cu, Zn, Fe, N, P show zero in my makeup water, yet dry analysis of Red Ogo shows

Zn at 139 ppm
Cu at 7 ppm
