I use API for pH, Amm, Nitri, Nitra, Phos, & a Salifert Phos for confirmation.

Plenty of folks aren't fans of the API but there is nothing wrong with them. Whatever kits you get make sure they aren't expired. A LFS would be a better place to buy those IMO.

I would guess you had some dieoff from the temperature drop and you are going through a mini cycle. Check for nitrites. Even though you didn't see anything die, a lot of small life in the live rock and sand may have died. You should keep a can of fresh saltwater on hand in case you need to do a quick change.

I'd also guess there was a mini cycle from the temp drop.

Not sure how long your power outages are, but if you're looking at a whole house generator's price range, the powerwall's are pretty sweet if they're typically a day or less.
