water temp change

Finally got the windows back open as it got into the 50's last night. That's not good for tank inhabitants. Water temp was 83 without the lights on (up to 85 while they were on) and this a.m. was 78. My leather refuses to open tonight to eat and I lost my 5" tang. Finally found him stuck to the pump. Anyone interested in the other livestock? I already have a taker for the lights and live rock. I'm ready to give up.

Do you have a fan on the tank? It can definitely help pull those temps down. I wouldn't think a temp swing like that would kill a fish but the leather would probably be effected. this hobby is full of little bumps in the road, I wouldn't be discouraged over the temp swing, it's usually an easy fix.

Maybe there was something in the air that polluted the tank? I've had swings worse than that during a power outtage last winter and everything survived. Sorry to hear about your losses.

Possible interest in the tank itself. And I am always up for investing in new livestock.
Sorry to hear you are frustrated. I gave my take a second and final chance and everything seems to be going well now...*knock on wood*.
