water temp

I have been told two different things by LFS on water temp.

The first stated that while letting the live rock grow, to keep temp aroun 80-81 but no higher. When adding fish drop temp to 78.

The second said water temp should never dip below 80, and 82-84 was preferable.

Who is right??

i would say 78 to 84, the key is a stable temp with no temp swings, i like 79degrees myself, so pick a temp in that range and your good to go, as for the curing temp id use the same temp as you pick for the tank

I keep mine at 80-81F controlled with my Aquacontroller. I agree, temp fluxuations can be stressful to inhabitants in some cases. ;)

i personally recommend a ranco controller if your using a heater. any heater that is made that ive seen has a possibilty of cooking a tank.

he one thing I feel the need to add, and this is get you numbers with in an expectable range and maintain them, and dont drive yourself nutty chasing those perfect numbers cause in the long run you'll only cause more problems , the most important thing is stability in our numbers

Anything between 78-82. The trick is to find out which one works best for your tank and stick with it. If you see that your tank seems to always stay at 80, then that's fine. Don't try to fight it. Any temp between 78-82 is really fine. You just don't want it moving up and down all the time. This will effect your tank if the temp swings all the time. Good Luck
