Water

I made my weekly visit to the The Waterhouse on the Westside only to find it has closed. The sign on the door said the locks had been changed so it appears the landlord lockedout the tenents.Where else can I buy reliable water? Can I use the water my a/c dumps from the condensor?

i was about to ask the same thing. HELP PEOPLE, haha, i know a friend went to one of those machines to refill your own jugs, but not sure how filtered it is.

You are better of going to Target or, big gulp here, Walmart to buy DI water in the gallon jugs v going to the coin water machines. You don't know when the last time they changed out the filters or serviced it.

Isn't there a WaterKing in Santa Teresa? I used to get my water delivered from them and I believe that they are based from there.

I can't say anything about Walmart wround there but I did use ro water from the one here in Deming for a while before I bought my ro machine. But then again I ran a reef on my tap water for over two years with no problems. Well water that is.

huh? what? who were why?
Aqua Pure Filters

Chuy - Don't use that A/C condenser water. A lot of the dust and dirt from the air that is extracted from inside the home sticks to the coils inside the air handler, and that coil is where the water comes from. It may also sit stagnant in the drip pan below the coil before it collects enough to expel out. There is a Water King on the corner of E Idaho and S Solano. I have checked the water with my TDS meter and got 0.00 on Friday. This is where we get our water for our office. No matter where you get it check with a TDS meter before you use that way you know what you got. Also highly recommend the OCEAN WAVE+ FIVE STAGE 75 GPD RO/DI from The Filter Guys. Prevents you from having to store, haul and lug those jugs around!! :D

The coin water machines should have a sticker or paper posting when they serviced last. Most are serviced daily or weekly.

Most may be pencil whipped daily or weekly and not really serviced, so I think I would still check the water with a TDS meter. JMO

+1!

I have also seen on the Drygood in RC forum for sale many RODI units for a fantastic price. Only thing you would have to do is possibly change the filters. I saw one earlier this week for about $80 and it was a 5 stage 100 gal/day RODI that usually sells new for about $200.

Chuy,

I have used my RO system for water changes and the tank has done pretty well. However, I did install a reactor w/phosphate media to scrub out the phosphates that were associated w/my RO water.

If you are on well water, I would test for nitrates/ites, phosphates, and some metals that may leach into the well water such as copper, magnesium, iron, and such. I wouldn't worry about chloramines since it is well water and not city water which treats w/chlorine. I would though.

Also, I agree w/Jay, try to test w/TDS meter if you can get a hold of one to test your RO/well water. This will give you an idea of the amount of particulates in your system. You can also buy a stand alone DI cartridge to add to your existing RO unit. With a simple bypass (ball valve to the line) you can have RO water for drinking and RODI water for you tank. Here are the links. Good luck.
