Wave box questions

Just picked up a 6212 wavebox that I plan to put on a marineland 300g(72x36x27). What size wave can I expect out of it?

if the wave is to small for me, I would like to get a bare pump and make a second box, but can I just use a 6000 or 6100 or does it have to be a matching pump to whats in the box now?

For that size tank you will get 3/4" - 1" max with 1 wavebox because of the Width. You will need an extension wavebox, a stream pump will put too much stress on the holder then you will have an runaway stream. You can use another 6100 but you have to purchase the box or build your own box. By the time you are done with all the DIY it will cost almost the same with the extension wavebox.

When I said add a 6000 or 6100 i ment in a box, not just out in the open. making a box is nothing for me, and then all i need is a Y adapter for the controller and im done. WAY cheaper then a purchased extension, for me that is.

Actually you don't even need the Y adapter and the 6091 controller controls 2 pumps without one. In my experience, I'd pick up a used box and resell the spare controller (or keep as spare)

yeah but i highly doubt I will be able to find a spare wavebox for $200(price of a used 6100) and im on a tight budget.

my main concern is the flow difference between the pump in the 6212 and the 6100 causing problems when using the 6100 in a box as an extention.

The different between the 6100 and the 6261 pump is bigger propeller on the 6261 because it is the 6200 motor block with 6100 transformer. Check with Roger to see if you can replace the propeller to 6200 propeller than you don't have to worry about anything....
