Well I decided to go with the evolution power heads, currently have a 1050 and plan to add 2 more 1400 and maybe another 1050. I know the Vortech and Tunze are king but for less than one Vortech I should be able to set-up a reasonable wave motion in my DT. The Dt is 245g 72X30X26, actual space above the sand is about 23". I'd like to hear from tose using the evolutions with a wave maker device so I can get some real world opinion before deciding on which to purchase. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I've got a RKL and tried running my Evo 1400's on it, but the clicking at startup was more than I could deal with. I just upgraded to a pair of Sicce voyager 2800's and highly recommend them. Absolutely zero noise at startup or anything else. And they stir the sand on the opposite side of my 90G quite easily. They are a little pricey, but have a three year warranty and so far I'm very impressed. I think you're going to need way more flow than you've listed above btw in a 245G tank.

I have 2 1400s on my 120g and just turning them off and on for feeding they start to run in reverse until I unplug and plug back in sometimes a few times so I dont know how well the would work being always turned on and off like that
Interesting, I was wondering if the 1400 gph was going to be good enough to make wave like motion, maybe not at 72" width. Will look into these. Thanks.

Just thought I'd chime in with another report of the Koralia Evo's starting up backwards, happens to mine too and they were all purchased within the last 3-5 months. If it's claimed they're fixed it must've been awfully recently, though at least I don't have to unplug mine, I just have to hit the switch a time or 2 to get them going the right way.
My understanding is the Evo's aren't really meant for to used with a wavemaker shutting them off and on all the time anyways though, I don't think I've heard of the Koralia * series doing it, but once you start spending more money Vortechs or Tunze pumps start looking a lot more attractive.

so true. nothing like dumping $ into something that does not work out. There's enough things in this hobby to drain the wallet. That's whey I started this thread, trying to avoid wasted spending if possible.
Which models did you go with. I'm a little smaller in size but with the rock work I have I need a lot of mvement to keep debris from settling in the rock.
