i really love mine, but if you read my post above you will see i am trying to get it to work quieter.
as far as how it works:
it is basically just a tough black plastic box (like 16x12x2 or something like that for the center unit) that is powered by an external motor that powers a vertical shaft that moves a paddle up and down inside the box...
what you get is:
paddle moves DOWN & water is sucked in the top & expelled out the bottom
paddle moves UP & water is sucked in the bottom & expelled out the top
one full up/down cycle in like 5-6 sec
creates wonderful chaotic eddies & currents throughout the tank (at least on my 110).
the easiest way to mount it is to cut a 3x2" hole 1 inch from the back wet glass/acrylic.
but if you want to get technical (or dont wanna cut a 3x2 hole in the top) you actually need 5 holes drilled (4 for the lugs to attach the motor mount to the wavebox & one for the shaft that powers the paddle in the box).
the 3x2 would be way easier to deal with & its the way i had it done.
the motor is attached to a super tough plastic mount & sits behind your tank so all you see of the machine outside of your tank is the two gears that power the wavebox.
you can also call mike (the owner) if you need more info.
