Wavebox 6215 vibrations

Hi Roger

I have a Tunze Wavebox 6215 with the 6091 controller on my 300G (72"x36"x27") tank. I am please with the performance; however, I am having a problem with noise. The wavebox produces a grinding sound that is quite loud. The noise has been present since the first day that the wavebox was installed, but I have waited to ask for help as I know there is a "break in period".

The wavebox was purchased in early January and has been in opperation for about 5 weeks now. The sound has quieted somewhat, but has leveled off for about the past 3 weeks.

The sound appears to be purely vibrations. When I hold the pump in my hand, it does not make any noise. I have tried to reseat the pump in the foam cussion but have been unable to stop the vibration.

Both of the O-Rings are installed inside the wavebox.

Unfortuantely (or otherwise), the tank has Eurobracing, so I have to unmount the wavebox to access the pump. Other than this, the Eurobracing does not interfere as it is 2" above the water line and there is plenty of room above the wavebox.

I have the wavebox mounted in the left corner about 1/4" from the back glass. I have tried moving it out to about 1" and 1.5" from the back glass, but this did not help. I also tried to adjust the vertical mounting point but this did not help the noise and I now have it mounted based on the wave height.

I have listened to the sound of waveboxes on other tanks, and they are much quieter. For some reason the unit I have is producing a vibration that is not present on other waveboxes.

What can I try?

Thanks

- Brad

I was wondering if this fixed the problem as I just installed mine and am getting similar noises. I will try and mess with the grommets again and see if that will help. I love the box though. I still get a 3/4" wave on my 375!
