Wavebox extension question

First do all waveboxes allow for the addition of an extension box? My tank is 96 x 48 x 36, so I figure I need 2 waveboxes on one of the 48" sides.

Next, if I get 2 used waveboxes that both have controllers, is it easy to convert one to the slave?

Lastly, if I have these 2 waveboxes, and the overflow is in the dead middle of the tank, where would you have the return lines from the overflow coming in, and would you use a seaswirl type device on the returns or would it negate the wavebox effect?

Thanks,

Mark

Good morning Mark, here is your answer

1. First do all waveboxes allow for the addition of an extension box?

Yes

2. Next, if I get 2 used waveboxes that both have controllers, is it easy to convert one to the slave?

Yes, the only different between the wavebox and extension is one have the controller and the other don't.

3. Lastly, if I have these 2 waveboxes, and the overflow is in the dead middle of the tank, where would you have the return lines from the overflow coming in, and would you use a seaswirl type device on the returns or would it negate the wavebox effect?

You can place your return line anywhere you want as long as the flow don't point direct into the outlet of your wavebox. You can use seaswirl, wavysea, or even create the waterfall it will not effect the wavebox. IMO, wavysea or seaswirl aren't necessary unless that is what you like to do.

On the side note, with that dimention. You may look at the 2nd extension and Y adapter if you expect a large wave like 2". My tank is similar to your except it's only 24" tank but i use 1 wavebox and 3 extension. I don't recommend that to anyone because not everyone as crazy as me :D. But i sure get a very large wave (5" +/-). If you need any more help, feel free to ask here or PM me.
