wavebox malfunction

I have this 6212 unit that has been in use since early this year. All of a sudden (I really can't link this with anything) the pump started making periodic rattling sounds. I took the box out to find the drive unit working funny. Instead of normal fast propeller pulsing operation, it would revolve in much slower rattling motion. Of course, I've cleaned and checked for damage all parts (bearings, rings etc.) - no change. I replaced the drive unit with a similar one from 6100 stream - same scenario. Then, incidentally, I found out that lowering the power of the unit (adjusting that screw on a small switch box) allows for normal drive unit operation (no rattling, goo revolving speed), but at low (less than 35%) power setting.
Now I do have the wave again, but with that minimal power setting the wave is quite low.
Is this a known issue and how should I go about it? Thanks.

Something is probably faulty with electronics of the pump. I would send it to the factory for repair.
