Wavebox on my 4 foot 180?

I have been trying to get the flow in my 4'x3'x2' 180 just right in the past months and i am just not happy with it. So i got a wavebox that will be hear in day or two and my questions are, since my tank is not a traditional rectangle tank whear should i place the box? i prefer a longer wave not a short and fast wave but if i understand the way it works the longer the tank the longer the wave? make sense? so with my 4 foot x 3 foot what am i to expect wave wise? should i place it on the back (3 foot f to back) or the side (4 foot side to side)? I plan on taking all but my 3 sureflow large prop maxijet modded powerheads out. do you think i will be happy with 3 2200 gph MJ's and the wavebox in a SPS tank?

Hello Rob, i would place the box to flow the 4f length of the tank. If you don't have any obstruction in the back, you can place the box there. As long as you have a straight shot across the tank, doesn't matter where you put the box. As for the wave, you will get it a bit faster because your tank is only 48".

The wavebox will not be able to replace your power head because you still need the directional flow. You should be happy with the 3 powerhead and the wavebox.

On the side note: You can also place the wavebox from the back facing the front and still get the side to side wave motion. But if you have a DSB or sand bed with smaller size grain, the wavebox will blow it around and leave you with a valley :D. Just try both and see which one you like better.

thanks i will try it in a fue spots. i have about 125 lbs of rock in the center of my tank. it is all open and not packed dense. so their is room all around the tank but no straight shot from one side to the other. and it is BB.
