Wavebox Problem

I purchased a used Wavebox 6212 here on RC. I'm having a problem with the pump, even after cleaning the impeller. On the timer, the pump seems to start up properly about 60% of the time. The other 40% it chatters and doesn't really turn over. And, the impeller blades look a bit beat up. Does all this indicate it might need a replacement impeller? Or, maybe a need an overhaul from Roger?

My guess would be that a new 6200.700 drive unit would solve this problem. You likely have a much older 6100.600 drive unit and the brakes are engaging and locking up. Does your wavebox pump have an aluminum driver box and round transformer or the small plastic connection box and rectangular transformer?

Roger,

The pump is marked
6201
8-24V = 5-55W
Q 5,000 - 20,000 l/h

The black brick transformer is marked
SWITCHING ADAPTER
MODEL: SYS1250-A324
MODEL-NO: TUNZE (R) ArtNo. 6300-240

Thanks,
Bob

That is odd, it is kind of a homemade wavebox, it would functionally be the same but a wavebox would have 6261 pump and 6101.240 transformer. It sounds like the original pump died and was replaced with a 6201, which is fine, it would perform the same, just not original or the customer added the box to his 6201. Assuming the drive unit is the 6200.700 which is what it should have been for this model pump, the most likely scenario is the motor is dead or dying. I would send in the pump.
