i have a 120g 48" tank with a 36" horizontal overflow. I plan on buying a wavebox, i was wondering if the long overflow would cause a problem. and will it cause a lot of splashing noise? thank you.

I think it should work well, you may get a short wave as some wave energy will be lost to the overflow but beyond that I see no issues.

I have a wavebox on an 80" 200g tank with a 48" horizontal external overflow. The wavebox works well with no significant splashing although it does a create a low level background "wave like" noise.

However I needed to add a mesh to the overflow as several new small fish were swept over in the waves (and generally lost into the skimmer).

Thanks for the tip Peter, i've lost 2 fish into the overflow in the last few months as it is so i was thinking about doing something there anyway. I'll do something about it before i put in the wavebox. Thanks roger, my wavebox is on the way, can't wait.
