wavebox

Roger,

I have a question about the wavebox. I have a 175 oceanic bow full of sps. Im considering the wavebox would i need anything else in your opinion to keep the flow up for my sps's or would wavebox by itself suffice? also is there any issues with a sand bed being blown around? and also would I have to worry about water splashing out of the tank right now I have the top open?

Thanks,
Erik

I am leary of waveboxes being used in Bowfronts, the wavebox does stress the seams and can decrease tank life. I have had too many bad experiences with bowfronts in my retailing years to recommend anything that adds more stress to the seams.

2 6100 and a 7095 Multicontroller. Because the flow of the wavebox has no directional force, even when using it you need something like a Stream to provide a directional current.

Roger,

thanks for your input and I appreciate your honesty on the bowfront situation. I did contact oceanic directly because ,of course, I was assured when I got this tank that I would have no compatability issues with anything..lol

but anyway this is the response it got just fyi.

Thank you for the e-mail, and your interest in Oceanic products. Honestly, wear and tear would show to be the same for either the rectangular tanks or the bow fronts. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

Thanks,

Well, that wan't my experience when I was in retail, Oceanic makes a good tank but I can honestly say in nearly 10 years of working retail I maybe saw 3 rectangular tanks fail within the warranty period and in 2 of the 3 cases the stands were ghetto rigs of cinder blocks that voided the warranty and were likely the cause of the failure. We had many bow front failures but I do understand it may have been a manufacturing issue that may have been resolved.

Roger,

I ordered the TS24 from Marinedepot on the 8th. When could I expect to get it?

thanks,
Erik

wave box in 1/2 cylinder

wave box in 1/2 cylinder

I was wondering if a wave box would be suitable for a half cylinder acrylic aquarium. Mine is 60x30x37, 3/4" body and 1/2" top and bottom. Overall volume of 225+ gallons. Thanks.

The wavebox won't work very well on anything that deviates too far from being a rectangle.

I don't know for sure Erik, I would guess you would have the pumps in maybe 2-3 more weeks and the controller a week or two after that at the present rate but it looks like delivery rates will be stepped up so it could be sooner
