Would I be able to keep sps in a 48x15x18 size tank? With the wavepoint light fixture 4x54 ho t5 216 watt total.

yes you will be able to, although the fixtures run extremely hot, so I suggest adding a fan to cool it down, which will greatly improve the light output. or get the wavepoint retrofit.

Yea I won't be getting the retrofit. I'm getting these off a buddy so I'll take what I get. Yea I was worried about the heat being so close off the water so I had already planned on setting up a fan or two. I have one sps tank already up and running and have this other tank just sitting in the garage and my buddy is upgrading lights so these just fell in my lap and decided to set up another sps tank. Will I be able to have the corals anywhere in the tank or just up really high? I have metal halides on my other tank so I'm not sure how powerful t5s are. Thanks!

T5's can be very powerful, although the wavepoints aren't the best. The key to good t5's are nice reflectors and active cooling of the bulbs. The wavepoints have decent enough reflectors, but have no fans and are almost water tight which traps the heat in. I had the retro on a personal tank and we have a 48" fixture over a tank at the shop I work at, I'd keep acro's closer to the top, but monti's and other lower light sps should be fine down low.

Edit: forgot to add that with the retro's (which run much cooler) I keep acro's 24" down with good results, so they should be good to at least 12" deep with the fixture.
