I have tried powerheads, shaking them upside down, and using trying to pry their feet off with different instruments. Nothing works for me - the anenome ends up splitting, this has happened twice! What do you suggest for getting an anemone off a rock??

Sometimes you may have luck by sort of "tickling" the foot of the bta with your finger. Takes a little bit of time, but after a little while the foot will start to move and detach.

Where are you aiming the powerhead at? That may make a difference as well. Another way may be blocking the direct light at it and see if it starts to move after a little bit.

I wouldn't really try to "pry" the foot off of the rock as you might tear it in the long run.

I've always been able to move mine by holding a very small power head in my hand & directly aiming it at the side of the base of the anem. It just sort of peels off very slowly until it eventualy begins to float. I've done this at least half a dozen times. Good luck.

I've had no problem removing them by prying. I don't use a sharp object though. I use a flat blunt object, the back of my tweezers, and gently push under the foot enough where I use my fingers to get it off. I must of done this at least a dozen times or more with no mortalities. These guys are pretty tough. Good luck.

i heard that air bubble at it's foot will work.. seem like a great idea.. i mean they do live in water and direct contact with air for water creatures must be uncomfortable...

I'm a fan of the "tickling" method... I've tried other methods without success (ice cube, powerhead), but find that gently rubbing/tickling around the edge (with your finger, with the fingernail cut waaay back to avoid any potential problems) will eventually do the trick. The key is patience... do it SLOWLY.

Mine tend to attach out of site, and then stretch up to the light. I found if I take the rock they're attached to and expose their foot to the bright lights, they'll try to walk away from it, at which point its pretty easy to pry them off. Before they start to move on their own however, they're on there very tight and I am not sure I could get them off without tearing the foot (i.e. killing the 'nem).
