WC clownfish

Anyone know of any stores in the Tampa/pasco county area that carry Wild caught occellaris?

I can't seem to get captive bred to host anemones in my 210, not sure if it's the size of the aquarium or what. Back in NY I had CB clowns host fast in my 12 gallon nano. I have a bubble tip and a sebae that they show no interest with in the 210

I think your chances of a WC ocellaris hosting an anemone aren't any different than the CBs, especially if the wild caught had a bond with an anemone species you don't have in your tank. Just a thought, nothing to prove this.

I have had this problem. I caught mine in the net then placed then still in the net over the nem I want them t host. If they touch the nem for 30 sec or so they never seem to leave. At least it worked for me

Neither a BTA nor a "sebae" are natural hosts to ocellaris. I bet they would take to a ritteri, gigantea, or mertensi pretty quickly.
Having the appropriate host species is much more important than WC vs captive bred. That being said, anything can happen in time, but ocellaris using a BTA as a host is a combo that seems to generate a lot of frustration.
BTW, forcing a clown into a nem is generally not recommended since it could result in the clown getting stung. That might not be a large risk with a BTA, but could get ugly quick with one of the carpet species.

Thanks for the input guys, I may add a different anemone, but it's frustrating considering back in my nano tank I had them host BTAs and long tentacles. I assumed WC would host an anemone faster since its stated that they don't live in the wild without an anemone.

I have read a few posts over the years suggesting that if you want a Clown to host a specific "thing" place both is a fairly small tank. Like stand up a 10 gallon for a week, put em both in and the clown will have nothing else to pay attention too. Once the bond is created moved em both back to the display.
It sounded reasonable but I have not tried this myself.

Good luck sir.

This sounds like a really good and simple idea. I would give it a try.
