The club is going buy a bunch of corals from the money generated by the members through raffles and donations. These corals will be fragged for the frag swap table. Grant and I will also be emptying out our frag tanks for this event so all of your donations and hardwork is paying off.

The date is going to be in January (not sure what the date is yet) We want to post this early so the members have time to prepare and plan for this event.

The location will be at my house. Since this is our holiday party let's turn this into a potluck/BYOB.

The buy in is going to be $20 plus 3 corals (if you are generous, you can bring in more than 3 corals) Our club is all about sharing so this money will be use again for our next frag swap or raffle and so on. This is a win win for our members.

For those that don't have corals for the swap, you can always buy some $10 frags from Jess on that day (he will have his frag rack set up once again so you can purchase even more corals). Jess will also be donating some corals for the swap so please return the favor and support his new store in Concord (diablocorals). The club will be buying some corals at a great discount from Diablo for this event.

Age of Aquarium will also be donating some dry goods for the raffle and in this raffle we will have rare corals. Neptune also donated gift certificates. If any of the other LFS like to donate for this event please pm me.

I will post more info as they come in.

Dipping corals:

Frag swap is the best place to get infected with corals STD .. lol ... so we encourage you all to brush up on your corals dipping techniques. My fovorite and most effective dipping method is using Bayer plus melafix.

For me the best receipe is 10ml of bayer + 1 ml of Melafix to 1 litter of tank water and dip the corals in this mix for 5 minutes. Flat worms and red bug be gone. Rinse the frag with clean water before putting it into your quaranteen tank. This will not brown out your corals like the providone/iodine base dip. I've dipped zoanthids, montis and sps using this method.

You can read the thread here and or develope your own receipe if you like but please ..... dip dip dip and quaranteen every time you get new corals.

Sounds like fun Tom, great way to get a lot of differant corals. For those of you that dont have a lot of corals yet Jess from Diablo will be there with lots of 10 dollar corals to make sure everybody has there 3 pieces and can participate in the swap. If you have any questions feel free to either post them or pm me. Thx Grant

Sounds awesome. Thanks Tom. Any chance you can convert those dipping volumes to non-metric units. This *is* America :p

Happy Holidays everyone.

Happy Holidays everyone.

Ben, The syringe is in millimeter so I kept it metric, but to make it easy use can use 1 quart of tank water instead of 1 litter. So 10 mil bayers + 1 mil melafix to 1 quart of tank water.

The date is going to be Sunday January 8th

And the time is going to be 11:00 am to check in your corals and the swap will start at 12:00 noon sharp.

We worked with our Vendor and placed a large ordered of corals at close to whole sale price and they should be here very soon. We will post pictures when we get them in. Stay tuned.

Please RSVP so we can get a head count. Thanks

A little bird ... no I mean ... A big bird has told me that we got a lot of help from the vendor and the whole saler, they are setting us up with a big load of corals for this swap so we are clearing out our frag tanks to make room to receive the shipment. Will post pictures as soon as next week..
