We had our first neighbor visit us today in out new apartment.

Twinpanther

Just Livin' Life
Baby Black Racer. His family lives in a bush just outside our front door. They are harmelss and a wonderful species to have close by as I've been told they are very territorial and will keep any other snakes away. Not to mention they eat spiders and bugs and whatnot so it's nice to have a friendly family nearby. If any of this info I've been told is off, Tad, please chime in and let me know, lol.

Pretty harmless overall but they can randomly get pretty aggressive towards people and if you've got any small children I'd probably relocate it a safe distance from the house.

they are not venomous so they will only scare small kids(or timid abults :-) ) I live in the country and have a bunch of snakes around. I will catch them just for the thrill then let them go. Just like in the ocean, everything has its purpose. Let the snake be a snake and keep your house and yard free from other pests! The only time ive had to relocate one was when it came in on my porch so i walked it a few hundred feet down my road and let him go. I dont mind them but on my porch is a little too comfortable.
Best of luck with what ever you do!!

That particular species of snake has been reported to attack humans unprovoked. Thats pretty uncommon for snakes. I'm all for letting critters be critters in general though.

I'm suprised he even made it in the house. His POE was just barely big enough for him to get in (I saw him enter) and don't expect any larger family members inside. There are no little ones living near me so I'm not worried about that. As far as timid adults, well, does SOL ring a bell? LOL. We live on Lake St. George so having a territorial NON-poisonous snake is much preferrable to a poisonous one (as long as he is doing his job well). According to the office, Black Racers around your place are considered a lucky addition.

That's a sweet lookin' snake Paul! I'd have to agree... healing from a regular bite would be much more preferrable than going through the whole anti-venom rigamarole.

Got a chuckle from the signature too. lol
