Webs webs everywhere

I seem to have alot of what look like cobwebs. These webs seem to be randomly located around various corals. Is this a bad thing or just normal? Who or what is making them?

My guess is Vermetid snails. I generally leave the small tubed ones alone as I've never had coral get too irritated by them. The larger ones that make large coils out of their shells get superglued shut in my system. I've had a few coral start dying back from their irritation.

If you haven't seen this site before, it comes in handy for pics of miscellaneous critters.

I have a couple of worms in one of my monti's put out "cobwebs" that really annoy the corals around it. I superglued their openings to keep peace in the tank. When one coral extrudes it's stomach to attack another coral it can look like cobwebs as well (correct me if i'm wrong guys). Hard to say without investigating. Maybe some pictures, or better description of the corals involved would help.

I have spaghetti worms in the sand and in some rocks. Would they be the guys doing it? I would love to get rid of these. The webs go from rock to coral and coral to coral. Doesn't seem to "warfare" related.

i just got a explosion of them. i thought it was cat hair that got into my system but then looking into more it is Vermetid snails.
i think the cause in my tank was over feeding while i was on vacation that lead to poor water quality, and mass reproduction.

Are those snails a result of overfeeding?

from what i have read on them this is what i belive happened in my system. i was on vacation and my overflow lost most of its siphon. so for a few days my tank was not filtering much water. i had a friend feed more than i typically do because he was only able to stop over every other day. both factors led to poor water quality and an explosion of these snails.

If I reduce feedings will the snail population die back? Do they starve or do they feed on other stuff? Does the same apply for those nasty spaghetti worms?

I wouldn't worry about either the snails or the worms if your water quality is good. Any nitrates? Any nuisance algae?

I can get the vermitid "spider webs" to come out when I turkey baste the sandbed and rocks before I do a water change.
