Weigt of tank

We may be moving to a new house and I would have to put my tanks on the first floor. I have always had them in the basement and never needed to worry about weight. If I remember my chemistry correctly, freshwater weighs 8.33 lbs/gal. Salt water is obviously more dense. I am sure someone here has that weight.

I can figure out the weight of the tank, stand, live rock etc.

Is there a rule of thumb as to how much weight is safe to up on a floor? Its a pretty solid house but I have no idea what would be safe.

BTW, the tank is a 65 gallon tank. The stand is MDF so it doesnt weigh too much. 20-30 lbs. maybe.

I also have a 110 and 55 gallon FW tanks. I may need to get down to 1 tank because of weight. We will have to see.

No general rule of thumb to follow here since the amount your floor can support is unique to your house. My floor leans with a 55g set up. When weight is in question, look into bracing the floor joists. Not to hard from what I hear, I'm currently in the research phase for this myself, got a 220 and 110 I need to try and set up ASAP and I know my floor would buckle before the tanks were even 1/2 full.

If you are "moving" into a new house... that could mean one of two things. If you are renting, you should ask your new landlord person to do a home inspection. If you are buying, you should have one done yourself. A structural engineer could give you a ball park figure with a glance. We here are only guessing.
