Weird behaviour?

Hi, my clownfish keeps striking my heater! Is this normal? There is some green algae on it but there is plenty of other algae this fish could chose from. I'm concerned it is going to get hurt.

And is there any true way to tell the difference between sebaes and clarkiis? I was sold sebaes but I think they are clarkiis.

thanks!

I don't think so. This clownfish is the larger of the pair and kind of aggressive. Maybe that's all it is!

Does it appear that it is "scratching" itself on the heater?

As for the difference, I believe (( and I could be wrong )) that Clarkiis have a 3rd stripe, whereas sebaes do not.

Not the best picture, but you can see the 3rd stripe at the base of the tails. These are Clarkiis.

thanks for the help you guys. The clown isn't scratching itself, just striking it..hard and fast!

I think my fish could be clarkiis. they have a band near the base of their tail. their middle white stripe goes to the tip of their dorsal fins.

Guess it doesn't matter what they are..they're beautiful!

this may be a stupid question, but does the heater have a light on it... and if so does the clown hit it when it only when it comes on?

It does have a light that goes on. I think it is seeing its reflection. It gets pretty ticked at the glass some times because it can see itself. aggressive little thing!
