Weird Coral

Hello!
I have recently bought this coral from a fish store going out of business, If I had to guess it would be a mushroom? If anyone knows what it really is that'd be awesome.
The main question I have is that there is a weird white spot growing on the bottom of it and it wasnt there when I bought it, Maybe too much light or not enough or something like that, I included a picture of the whole tank so maybe someone could help thanks!

The coral does look better in person but thank you for all the replies and yea i was thinking about giving the damsel a new home. Only got him because he was a cheaper. And yes before anybody yells at me, I made sure all my water levels were fine and the tank had cycled :lolspin: Thanks for the help everybody :)

I think it's more, wrong color spectrum...? Either bad lights or too much nutrients

Too many nutrients? what might you mean by that? I guess I didnt know there could be too many.

I have the stock biocube lights on 8-12 hours a day 10,000K T5 and the 18watt acticnic light.

I have some zoas that seem to be doing fine, If you look at one of the first pictures I had the chalice on the middle flat rock and have since then moved him lower because I thought maybe he might have been being bleached.

I'm not yelling at you, I've just seen how large that species have damsel can get.

Yea I know you arent yelling at me :) i just know some people use damsels to cycle, and along with many other people I think that that is cruel. I do appreciate all the help given by this forum :)

I was already thinking for sure the yellow clown gobie and possibly a pair on clownfish unless something else catches my eye. Almost tempted to get a fish that will be small enough for the 14 gallon but will grow bigger and finally convince me to convert my 55 freshwater into a saltwater tank. I built a custom stand for it and it has a 20 gallon underneath that I could convert into a display refugium.

Do you know of any fish that I could purchase that would be fine in the biocube for a year or less before I could move it to the 55?

Your freshwater fish need you, and you made a commitment to their well-being.
Petco has 40 breeders for a dollar a gallon from time to time, build yourself a nice saltwater tank

I would actually be giving them to a friend who would be more than happy to have them in his 90gal african tank. But thanks anyways :)

One more question though, what are the reasons you suspect bad lighting, and what nutrients would cause the coral to be unhealthy in excess?

The store I got them from told me it was a mushroom and I guess I thought he just fragged it or something, it was only $5 but I dont want it to die or anything. Do you think it will be able to survive in the biocube with the stock lighting? after doing some research I have concluded it is bleaching but I've seen many people say that LPS don't do well in the biocube.

Awesome thanks, my nitrates were at about 15 this morning, I still need to buy a phosphate test. Top of the list, Thanks for all the help :)
