weird creature in my tank

haha, thats exactly what it's doing!
raking 'leaves'
maybe i should start a new topic, but i'll ask it here anyway:
to feed animals such as the shrimp and similiar creatures, i just need to throw food in there and let them find it on their own right?

That's exactly what I do......My larger crabs and all shrimp grab whatever food floats around (flake and frozen)

k. i need more scavanger type creatures.
i'm worried about the critters not finding stuff before it decays to much.

They are very good at finding whatever hits the floor. If they don't get it before you go to bed, you can be sure they're hoovering it up after lights out.

In a tank your size, 6 hermits and 1 or 2 shrimp can actually do a bang up job on keeping your tank free of leftover food. Don't go gonzo with the per gallon recommendations. It's usually way too many critters.

I think I have 12 nassarius, 8 ceriths, 4 hermits, and 1 shrimp in The Tub, which is 300gal. I also have a healthy population of stomatellas, but I only started with a few... :D

stomatellas - I gave my GF 2 when she started her 12-gallon, that's all she needed; now two months later she has at least 50 :D - they've been busy - and one of the best algae eaters around

i decided i'm at a good place now.
3 chromies
1 large peppermint shirmp and 1 small
about 20ish blue leg hermits
about 25ish astreas snails
6ish nassarius snails
1 fighting conch.

i'm gunna let that sit for a while.

MadTownMax, can you spare a few of your stomatella snails, Id gladly pay shipping and trade you for a toadstool leather frag :)
