Weird growth on toadstool leather

Any ideas what this is? Doesn't seem to be bothering the leather too much but almost appears that it may be trying to drop it? Should I worry?

No, nothing has been bothering it that I can see. It's almost like it's tearing itself, though I don't know what's up with the yellow top of that stalk. It's weird.

It looks damaged. If you think something is wrong with it I would take a razor blade and slice off that finger about halfway down. It will grow back and the problem area may recover and grow into another leather.
