Weld-on, float valves, etc.

All,

I thought I would let everyone know that I have found some local sources for things like weld-on, float valves, and RO/DI stuff.

Plastic Supply which is right near steinhouse supply (plumbing stuff like sched 80 bulkheads) sells weld-on tubes and tins.

All seasons home brew supply company near green hills mall sells various float valves, and nice 8 gallon water buckets.

Rock City Machine, downtown, sells all kinds of water filtration stuff. I'm actually working with the owner trying to piece together a DIY kalk reactor from a double-height see-through water filtration cannister (20-inches high). He has chemical grade ceramic check valves, and other things.

I discovered all of the above because I'm on a quest to put together an auto topoff along with an in-line kalk reactor. Thought others might find the info useful...

Rock City can be a very useful source...Ive been meaning to stop by, when Im in town, and check if they have a 1" flow-meter thats salt safe. They have some unique things.

They ordered some stuff for me and when it comes in I'll try to remember to ask about the 1" flow meter. Is that something that gets plumbed in-line with 1" pvc?

Good Job. hopefullly we can all benefit from this and that they have good prices. Just a side note to this, Tractor supply co is looking into selling water filtration products (i have a bit of a hand in this). they will be carrying carbon block and micron filters that will fit in most ro/di systems. they will also have whole house filters which the canisters can be used for some stages of the ro system.

Nice. Yeah, I think they have good prices, but I'm not totally sure. I came home after talking with them about the double height cannister and the cheapest I could find it on line was about $20 more than Rock City -- so at least that looked good. Also, when I called and spoke with them again to order the part, it turned out that I had been speaking with the owner while in the store. I asked him some questions and he had actually been thinking of how I might be able to build this and was going to look into how to rig up some parts to do it. A very helpful person :)

Nice to know where I can get some local replacements for the RO. Now just to find some local DI resin :)

Thx for the offer, but I made it by there today....they dont have one that would work (very long) in saltwater.
Yeah, its an inline...its usually drill in with clamps, but they have female and male ends also.

Anyone got a address for this plastic supply company? I need some weld on and the internet supplier STILL hasen't shipped mine yet so I cancelled the order yesterday. I think ordering it June 20th gave them sufficent time to get it here and 2 phone calls looking for it :(. I called looking for it again and they promised it was going out in the morning so cancelled my order yesterday and figured I could drive and get it for the same in gas it cost to ship and not wait and wait and wait! Totally bad service.
