wellsophylia placement

My lighting is 2x65 PC (24"). Lighting and other possible reasons, should my wellso be on the sand, midway up? where? I just heard that they really need to be on the sand? Will there be enough light? Thanks in advance.

I have a Wellsophylia and have tried putting it both on the sand and up close to the light on rocks.

It now resides on the sand. Simply put, durring 2 months of being on a rock it just never fully expanded. It loves the sand though and is about twice as big during the day time that it previously was.

Put it on the sand and give it moderate indirect flow (it won't expand without the proper flow over it). It really doesent need very intense light to be happy. Right now all I have over it is 96w PC from my old tank @18in deep till I get my new VHOs. VHO sure does make the wellsophylia look sexy :)

OK, so I put it on the sand on 2/14. When it was on the rocks, it often stayed way expanded, maybe 7-8 inches across, but it did fall a couple of times. Now, on the sand, it remains all tight and curly, about 3 inches across. Is bigger happier? Any suggestions?

You have a deep corner tank with not much light over it. Is your coral placed so that there is not a bulb directly over it, like right up in the middle front of the tank? That could be bad. When was the last time you changed your bulbs, has it been more than a year?

Also mine has had problems from water temps droping low at night, and then the tank isn't warm enough the next morning. So: how is your temp situation?

Also, does it get any waterflow? A Wellsophylia will enjoy a moderate waterflow but react poorly to stagnant water or harsh water.

In the end its probably your light. at the angle it is at from the bulb its probably getting nothing it can use. Unless you plan to upgrade, I guess its time to put it back where it was. Not the best spot, but maybe the best you have to offer it. Good luck troubleshooting it through.
