Wet/Dry Filter Questions/ DIY

Hello everyone,
I'm slowly preparing myself to step into the saltwater world of fishkeeping and had a couple of questions.
What are the benefits of wet/dry filters and would a converted 10g be an adequate size for a 44 hex?
If so any advice one how to get this project started? Or refer me where I can find some helpful reading material?
Thanks in advance,
Joe H.

That would probably work, a 20g would be an easier build in my opinion but i've seen many people do it out of a 10 gallon. First go look under the Filtration, or DIY section there are a ton of write ups on exactly this. I assume the 44 gallon is not drilled for an overflow, so you will then have to decide what you're going to do for that. You could drill it, but I would suggest either constructing a PVC self siphoning or purchasing a overflow box. I'm not doing much but rambling, somebody probably has a wonderful styled write up somewhere on here, if nothing else use the search forum

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I would probably just purchase an overflow box because they are inexpensive rather then going through the trouble of getting the tank drilled.
Thanks for the input,
Joe h
