Wet/Dry Side Wont Attach

My pump has been running fine, I just took off the wet side to brush it clean (from algae, etc) and now when I try to re-attach it to my glass, it rattles like crazy and does not 'stick' to the dry side through the glass. The prop does not spin and the magnets do not catch. I did not unscrew the wetside, just brushed it clean. the prop does spin freely when i try it by hand.
Any suggestions?

i got it to work by unplugging it, holding it in place, while my wife plugged it back in.

Albert-

The pump must be installed and then plugged in. If you plug the pump in and then install the two halves together it will not work and could severely damage the pump.
